2016 SCOM Case Competition

Team of 3 or 4 students are given a case and asked to resolve a corporate problem that is closely related to Supply Chain and Operations Management. Essentially, teams serve as external consultants to help the organization streamline the operations and supply chain process. Teams are strongly encouraged to include at least one member from a SCOM concentration to leverage this expertise. The top three teams will receive monetary rewards as detailed below.

One member from each team must register the entire team by February 12, 2016 at 11:59 PM via this link: Registration Form

Case will be distributed to teams on February 15, 2016 before 9AM.

Round One
Teams should submit a one-page abstract to the organizers by 11:59 PM, February 19 2016. The abstract shall address the questions provided in round one. The criteria for selection weighs on depth of analysis, professionalism and recommendations backed by evidence. Further details will be distributed to teams along with the case on 2/15.

Round Two
The top five teams shall be shortlisted and invited for final presentations on February 26 2016. Judges will be a mix of faculty members and industry professionals from Buffalo. Presentations span over 20 minutes, including 5 minutes for questions. Criteria for judging will be finalized after round one.

Cash Prizes will be provided to top 3 teams:
1st Prize – $800
2nd Prize – $400
3rd Prize – $200

Participants must be enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate program within the School of Management. This includes full-time MBAs and Masters students, but excludes PhD students.
